An established Digital Marketing firm in the US operated a large number of high traffic websites and drove online exposure and leads through Online Marketing campaigns on Google, Bing, Facebook, DoubleClick, Yelp, Amazon and more platforms.
The Digital Marketing firm started to face challenges over the last year in keeping all the website live, fast and up-to-date. Their clients started to report frequent slowdowns of websites during peak times and occasional downtimes resulting in lost business opportunities for clients that heavily depended on their online presence and exposure. The disparate architectures, configurations and versions of these websites made it a challenging task and led to significant management overhead. The client wanted to standardize their underlying infrastructure and wanted to move to cloud, but wanted to do so without causing any downtimes for all websites with large user base.
On careful study, Agile GCP Labs - A Google Cloud Partner - suggested the solution to move the websites to Google Cloud Platform. The Linux, Apache, MySQL and PHP (LAMP) servers for 150 websites was migrated from IBM Softlayer to the Google App Engine Flexible on GCP. The backend architecture of the websites was not consistent as there were many different databases and software configurations at play. To expedite this process, Agile GCP Labs wrote scripts that automated a big part of the preparation work for a site migration. Optimizing and automating these workflows allowed the website migrations to happen more quickly.
The migration of 150 websites was successfully done in a 3 weeks without any downtime of websites or any impact to website users visiting the websites during the migration. With the websites running on Google Cloud Platform, the Digital Marketing Agency has a solid foundation to grow and realize the benefits like flexibility, scalability and cost-efficiency.
Agile GCP Labs previously known as Agile iSS was founded in 2014 and recently rebranded in 2019 as Agile GCP Labs.
